A Very Thankful Thursday

I realize my gratitude lists are a bit sporadic and sometimes repetitive. I really like them nonetheless. I'm thinking perhaps I should make them more regular. We'll see. For now I'll continue to write a gratitude list whenever the urge strikes me or I know I particularly need to regain some perspective.

Today I'm filled with gratitude...

For good friends. Friends who always know the right thing to say at the best possible moment. Friends who are always ready with a hug and encouraging word. Friends who love me even when I'm tired and cranky. Friends who make me laugh. Friends willing to share dry dock fees at the marina so we can all spend more time sailing and less time hauling the boat around. Friends I haven't ever met in person who brighten my life on a daily basis via the blog world.

For my family. I know this one seems obvious but I need to say it again today. We have a friend who recently lost her husband unexpectedly and it has reminded me to be thankful for every moment we have together. I'm filled with gratitude for every morning I get to wake up next to the love of my life. I'm grateful for all the nights we lay in bed watching The Daily Show and laughing after L. falls asleep. I'm grateful for my little girl and her smiles and her crazy attitude that fills her with life.

For Sailing. We spent two amazing days on the water last weekend and I feel exhausted, rejuvenated, connected, exhilarated...I'm filled with gratitude for all the circumstances that allowed Destiny to be part of our lives. I'm thankful for the family time, friend time, outdoor time that she makes possible.  

For sunshine. I know our winters down here hardly qualify as winter but we've had a couple of gloomy weeks. I am so incredibly thankful to have the sunshine back. I love a good, hard rain but the sun changes my life. I'm a different (and much more sane) person when the sun is shining.

For tea with my daughter. L. and I have been trying to make some special time for just the two of us away from home. I feel like we've been spending a lot of time at home lately and it's good for both of us to get out. We've gone out for tea a few mornings and it's been just lovely. Yesterday we dropped my husband at work and L. said, "can we go get special tea mommy?" Of course I had to say yes. She has such a wonderful spirit. I'm thankful that I get to know her better every day and that I get to witness her developing into a well rounded human being.
