Our sunflowers are several feet tall and in need of stakes and we have beans pods on the beans. They're dry beans (Pinto) so they won't be done for several more months...
There are tomatoes on the tomato plants (can you tell they're Romas?).
We planted a nasturtium that is doing well...we lost another one in a storm a few weeks ago. I'm hoping to add a few more if I can find more seeds or starts. They are such a lovely addition to salads!
We have peppers on our Serrano and Jalapeno plants and blossoms on the sweet peppers and tomatillos.
And, J. made a whole new garden space just for watermelon. They're doing well although everything is a little worse for the wear right now. We had a big storm last Monday and all of our plants are still recovering from the pounding rain. Nonetheless, the watermelons have each grown more than a foot since we planted them a week and a half ago.
Unfortunately, the eggplants did not make it. We decided last night they were too far gone and I pulled them up this morning. I still haven't figured out why. I'm planning to do some more research (I'll make the eggplant work next year!) and plant dry bean seeds in their place tomorrow.
And that is how our garden is growing.
How does your garden grow?

I start mine in NYC around Mother's day as the weather is weird here. Now it is like summer and am tempted to start, but my luck isn't good. I will do herbs and tomatoes..Now that I am married, I will grow less of those as the poor man is allergic to tomatoes!! You have made me happy to think of the garden!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it made you happy! So sorry about the tomato allergy. That is sad indeed! Good luck with your garden this year!
DeleteHello Emily,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you shared your garden progress. I just finished planting herb garden seeds in trays... I hope they grow. I have bees now and I am hoping to add variety to their diet. Everything looks great in your garden. Were the pintos hard to get started? The birds have been eating everything I plant outdoors that isn't under plastic. Have a great week and thanks again for sharing.
The pintos came up just fine. We had cutter ants eat a few but I just planted more seeds and haven't had any further problems since we got rid of the ants. I soaked the seeds for 24 hours before planting and that seemed to do the trick! Good luck and I hope the birds don't eat your garden!
